Anyone got any opinions about using a recumbent bike as opposed to the turbo. I want to improve my endurance base as I'm doing an IM next year. I'll probably try and mix the two.

I wasn't clear if you were talking about putting the recumbent on the turbo, or on the road??
They have recumbent exercise bikes at my gym, but they are always full of fat old ladies reading Hello magazine and barely pedalling.
Apart from adding a bit of variety, is there any advantage (to a triathlete) to training on a recumbent?
Incidentally, I've got a disabled mate who has a hand powered recumbent. He's does some pretty impressive distances (and hills) on it... now
an upper body workout.
