What Makes a good Open Water Swim Venue?

I've tried a couple of nearby lakes and I must say I really like the friendly, relaxed, organisation of OWS...esp. for newbies and first open water swimmers such as me...because I was met and greeted by 'helpful' people, the facilities, course(s) and procedures were well explained and the other swimmers were also relaxed and approachable (no worries with the 'can you help zip me up please...). Facilities, drinks, food, showers, sauna(!) are all good and the organisers have been really helpful with all the questions that a newbies like me must ask all the time



Oh - and the mass start practice - what a great idea!!
