off road tri bike set up

Hi all,

In a couple of weeks for a bit of fun I am going to do an off road sprint tri , the race pack says that a mountain or hybrid bike will be required and that the course is relatively flat, with grass, compacted mud and gravel being the types of surfaces we will encounter.

Was wondering whether my usual road bike set up should differ from a mountain bike / hybrid set up.

On the road I use a 57cm frame, with seat height set so my knee is just off extension and handles are usually equal height to the seat. I spend most of my time seated and occassionally come of the seat for extra power on hills ( which are few and far between in essex )

Would welcome any advice from those who have raced off road, also for the track described which would be better hybrid or mountain bike ?
