    Hi Burdy,

Great event to choose, Blenheim's always a good one!

I'm sure you'll get loads of help on here, but in the meantime our beginners' section might be useful. Here's a link: http://www.220triathlon.com/beginners/home/

Burdy, read the 'unfit newbie' thread, loads of great advice in there. You are a bit younger than me but may be in a fitter place than I started out at. My advice to myself knowing what I know now would be get a training plan that is realistic and that builds you up over a long period right from the start and then stick with it. Don't overdue it too early on...it adversley affects your motivation (speaking from experience) be realistic about the time you have to train and the ultimate goal. I'd love to have 'Ironman' as a goal but work, wife, kids, dogs, chickens, fish, rest of the family - not necessarily in order - also require maintenance and asset management in varying degrees.
