Open Water Swim

I'm new to triathlon and have an event at the end of June with an open water swim,can anyone suggest any locations in the Newport S.Wales area where I can do some training? Also if there are any groups who I could train with?

    i don't know the area that well to suggest any open water venues, but i know some people in newts (newport tri) and they seem to be a friendly, welcoming bunch.
