How on earth do I eat 11,000kcal?

    why would you? i'm not sure you need to replace all the outgoing energy while racing and i doubt your stomach would cope with trying to digest it! 

    refuelling afterwards is one of the pleasures of racing, too, so it would be a shame to deny yourself that.

    You don't!

    The athletes studied consumed an average of 3700kcal during the event. The 7300kcal deficit came from mostly from stored fat, some stored glycogen and some protein breakdown.

    Run on empty and practice fat burn.
