Curse of the...apple?
Maybe a little odd question to ask but has or does anyone else here suffer from 'digestive distress' when running having eaten an apple hours previously For me, it always seem to kick in after three miles/5km and necessitates a significant degree of clenching allied with an increasing need to 'penguin' from the knees down, then the inevitable sit-down visit when home.
I ask because I know I can run further and have done so often, but without our crunchy doctor-repelling friend. The only other common denominator is energy gels of which I take one before going out so I don't think it's that and I have read that apples do make their way through your system somewhat quicker than other foodstuffs hence my enquiry.
Anyone else suffer similarly or have any alternative ideas as to why this occurs?
