Sad and shocking news, my condolences to Julian's family. I remember taking the photos for 220 from the back of a motorbike at the Swindon Biathlon and seeing Julian take on the established names. His contribution to the sport justifies the legend tag.

Shocked to read of Julian's death. My heartfelt condolences to his family and close friends I remember him from events in the 1990's- he seemed to win everything that he entered and I was at best a mid-packer. Nevertheless, he always had time for all triathletes, myself included, and was just as interested in everyone else's performance as he was his own. A gentleman as well as inspiration. Many elite sportspeople would do well to follow his example.
