New bike advice please

Hello,

I am thinking of buying my dad his first road bike as a birthday present. He is not an experienced cyclist so I was thinking of getting him a entry level/cheaper bike. My budget is around £600. I have been out of the cycling loop for a while so can anyone give me any recommendations for bikes in this price range.

It's slightly over your budget at £650, but in my opinion Boardman bikes are pretty hard to beat for value
