Clip on tri bars

Hi all, Basically I have come across an incident regarding a set of clip on tri bars  that failed due to cracking. My question is Has anyone ever suffered a similar issue when using clip on tri bars? The reason I ask is two fold, 1) the set that failed are the same type as the set I currently have fitted to my bike and 2) I am now in my last year of an Engineering degree and was looking to use this as a project base. Therefore if anyone has suffered a similar failure could you please let me know? also any pictures would be greatly appreciated and if you happen to still have the offending item I will happily pay any postage costs to obtain the bits.
