Tapering question

hello all,

I have a small query, I have never been too sure when to train in the few days preceding a race, I have rested for 2 days prior, trained 2 days before and rested on the day before and rested 2 days before and trained on the day before. And I am still not quite sure which one is best! According to the things I've read it is good to do a small amount of race intensity exercise the morning of the day before. I have a half marathon on sunday which I am taking very seriously, but the tri club group ride is tomorrow morning, and I can't decide whether it would be a good or bad idea to go out on the bike tomorrow morning! What do other people do?
