I use a Minoura Hypermag thingy - no feedback so I use a Cateye computer on the back wheel with cadence. I just use the relative spd and cadence to measure effort dependent on gear and setting.

Doesn't tell gradient, I measure it in books [&:] - propped under the front wheel, a highly technical measure! The feedback type turbos seem expensive

Get an unfancy turbo and then buy a cateye turbo trainer computer It records cadence, speed, average speed, distance, odometer in kMh and mph?

I got the Cateye Strada Cadence computer (wired) and already mentioned the turbo above!

I got the cycleops mag decent review in 220 and within my budget. Seems good so far but eats tyres so would recommend a turbo trainer tyre.

I also have the Boardman wireless cadence £35 pretty easy to set up after a few tips from the Halfords guys - very impressed.
