Charge for a personalized Training Plan

I have come to the conclusion that i'm not as fast as i possibly thought i was.

Anyone on here a qualified fitness coach/Trainer.

I have the ability i'm sure, just not all the knowledge to put it into practice.

How much would you charge for a proper training program, focusing on speed, i def have the base just need to try and build on it.

A personal trainer/coach is relatively expensive. Probably around £25 per hour - possibly more depending on how good they are! I used a personal trainer to get me through a period of Injury in Winter 2008. He was really a rugby coach, not an endurance specialist, but it was very useful and I learned a lot and gained a lot of confidence as a result - especially in the importance of, and how to do, gym work.

Are you a member of a club? A good club will have a coaching programme, and this can often be more effective, as well as cheaper, especially as you can train with people of similar (or preferably, slightly better) abilities - the benefits of seeing how other people do things - especially when it comes to unlocking potential, can be a great help.

I assume you are not interested in "self training" - so getting a book/video is not of interest?

Do you currently have a training plan? Might be worth sticking it up here, a long with examples of performances - e.g. 5K, 10k times, 10 mile / 25 mile TT times etc. It might be worthwhile focussing on speed in your weakest discipline, rather than all three at one time - i.e. take some time off from tris and become a runner, or a cyclist for a bit.

Have you plateaued? Or are you just not making the gains that you want to?

My son CPT333 is a fully qualified personal trainer and he does some additional classes etc at Sean Fergusons gym in Dorch (Physiques and Shapes) so possibly could do something to help you. He is at work at the moment but I'll get him to pm you later if you're interested?

Take a look on the BTF website for a qualified coach in your area http://www.britishtriathlon.org/coaching/index.php You could be looking at around £45 for a programme and email support. There are also some good programmes in 220 and various triathlon books.

Mate in all honesty, as much as i would love to come, if nothing else just to chew the fat with the good people off the forum.

I dont believe i would get alot of benefit.

I'm not a newbie to Training, i've been doing some sort of training most of my life (adult), i'm at a point where i believe i have the base to really build on, if pointed in the right direction.

There are loads of training plans i can get for free from the tinternet/ books etc.

However its the little details you cant get, an example would be,

At present, i'm doing a training plan from some such book and its supposed to be for an olympic event however after some of the sessions i feel like i've not really done enough, so i would ask, should i do more ?

I'm a strong believer in the body telling me when i'm tired so if i do 2 hours a day for 6 days and dont feel tired i dont have a rest day, a personal coach/trainer would be able to tell me to take the rest day or continue.

It all depends on cost of course, i think it will be out of my reach anyhow, so will probably push on blindly hoping i'm going in the right direction, raceing and getting the times i want will tell me that.

Why don't you just hire Conehead, instead of going on the training days?
