Ironman Training Update.....

While most of you are into or approaching races and getting really excited, I've been one of the more unfortunate crew just training and waiting and waiting until I get to race (please read pace myself carefully road the course).

So, while I don't have a great triathlon race story to tell. Here's a did a great training session!!!

- 8:30 a.m. : 3.2km swim in 25m pool. Completed in 57:20. Couple of minutes slower than I wanted and luckily avoided any swim nemisis' so held a pace all the way through. Tedium was over come by my new count the length number you are doing all the way down, it's a tough mental one not to think about anything else.

- 10:30 a.m. : 165km bike session as 5 x 33km loop. Stopping each lap for 3 -5 minutes to change water bottles, grab gels and food. Took 5:27, so guessing actual ride time was around 5:10. Had a little crash into a grass verge not concentrating on the last lap. Peed myself a few times! It still feels weird. Back and neck got tired from sitting in the aero position for so long. Had a terrible speel at about 130km when I had a shouting match with the headwind!!! [image]http://forum.220magazine.com/micons/m9.gif[/image]

- 5:30 p.m. : 10km run. Attempting to control my HR in Zone 2 <137bpm. Failed miserably! Did the 10km in 57:13 and at an average of 145bpm, including a stop into my mates place for the toilet.

Interestingly, I weighted myself in the morning (15st 1lbs) and finally after the run (14st 13lbs) which is not as much as I thought it might be!

Anyway, fairly boring but felt like I was missing out on all the topics!!! [image]http://forum.220magazine.com/micons/m11.gif[/image]
