It costs so much to do this sport. It does so easliy spiral out of control. I find myself on ebay buying rubbish that for some reason I think will make a difference, but it rarely makes any difference
Not sure that this is sensible, but.... These costs are since early 2006

The sad thing is, this isn't actually as bad as I was fearing - I was worried it would get over £5k. You know you're in trouble when you're given platinum membership at wiggle...
this is actually quite frightening ................. only in the second year and here's a rough breakdown .........
First bike - Giant SCR3 from Wiggle €500.00 (I though that would be it !!)
Second Bike - Dolan Aria TT Bike €1700.00 - full Ultegra / Profile Aero bars bla bla
FSA RD600 Wheel set €360.00 off ebay USA - bargain of the year !!
tri suits x 2 - €150.00
Running shirts - €100.00 (at least)
Running shorts - €100.00 (at least)
bike computer - €50.00
Gym membership €600.00 per year
Wet Suit 1 - €150.00 too big sold for €80.00
Wet Suit 2 - €260.00 well at least its a good fit
Training shoes - €80.00 per pair (I have at 6 pairs - why I don't know, I just do)
Tri Bike SHoes - €140.00
Bike SHoes - €100.00 (half price on wiggle)
Swim shorts - €15.00 per pair (again have loads - I just buy them)
Goggles - €20.00 per pair (only have 1 pair I wear)
1000 mile socks - €10.00
C02 pump and canisters €25.00
Drinks bottles - €5.00 each
Aero Drink bottle - €15.00
SIS Gels / Drinks Powder - €70.00
Helmet for the bike - €100.00
Tri CLub Membership €50.00
Club Tri Suit - €58.00
Track Pump - €45.00

car rack 1 - €90.00
car rack 2 - €60.00 (thank god I had the roof bars)
I'm going to stop myself now, not totting it up as best to stay in denial, this is a guess but I've missed loads - its scary ............... no wonder my wife just gives me that look when the boxes arrive ........... don't you just love it !!
P.S - all in euro's but now the pound is worth nothing - might as well call it parity !
I struggle to remember how much things cost, I think this is my way of not having a break down...
Cervelo £825 (plus flights & hotel to New York cheaper to buy there, honest or that is what I told people!)
Bike box £80
HED Ardennes wheels plus wheel bags £700
Converting from aero bars to drop bars £300
Look HM Ironman pedals £120
Tri shoes £90
SRAM 1090R chain ?
SRAM 11-28 rear cassette ?
3 tri-suits £150
2 Cycling tops £50
Turbo trainer £140
Suunto HRM plus all the gizmos £300
Wetsuit £100
Swimming lessons £280
Books £80
Plus all the silly little bits i've forgotten I am probably looking at £3,500 before entry fees, travelling costs etc etc
Now I am thinking of buying an old estate banger to fit the bike in to take to races without taking the wheels off... I feel this list will never end, however, this list is only 4 months old
my 2p... (well, rather more than 2p I suspect!). Some of these are guesswork as I can't remember the actual price, and its all a bit rounded up or down... As you can see I am a cheapskate!
