NO! I've been surfing all winter, albeit with 5/3 suit, gloves, boots and a hood....however with all this kit on it makes movement a bit restricted. the sea is about two months behind the air temp, so september is the warmest month to sea swim. I'll be going in with summer suit and no gloves and boots about April/May. Its still pretty chilly in there. If you do go, choose a sunny day with no wind-makes one hell of a difference!
