Training using a HR monitor

As a newbie to triathlon and this forum I would really appreciate some assistance. I have been running for many years and have recently moved into triathlon as well - completed my first sprint tri (400m/24k/5k) a couple of weeks ago and loved it !!

I have seen a few articles in various magazines refer to HR monitor training, max. HR, training zones etc but have to admit to being slightly confused with it all.

Can anyone recommend any articles or books that would provide me with a good basic introduction to this topic.

    I recommend 'The Triathletes Training Bible' written by Joe Friel. This should clear it all up for you.
