Road bike tyres

armiearmie Posts: 10
Hi all,
I am looking for a good reliable tyre for my road bike. I want to use a ride to and from work each day as a training ride but I need a good tyre for this after the first ride on a cheap halfords tyre, puncture first time out and several last summer. Was thinking of the schwalbe durano plus but was wanting something that rolls well and I can use for racing too as funds are limited (family and all that). Does anyone have any recommendations on what they use and last ability.

Thanks
Ian

I bought a pair of these about a year ago! Touch wood I have never had a puncture and I race on them as well as eide to work (my route to work takes in some very little used country lanes). Not the best tyre i am sure but does the job a treat!

I'm a convert to Specialized Armadillo tyres.

Use the All Condition on my Hybrid, http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-All-Condition-Armadillo-Road-Tyres_41488.htm, and the All Condition Elite http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-All-Condition-Armadillo-Elite-Road-Tyre_15863.htm on the road bike.

Might be slightly heavier than a true race tyre, but never had any issues with either of them in 4 years of use, and time lost in fixing a puncture during a race would far outweigh the time loss of riding a heavier tyre. Hybrid gets specific abuse riding rough roads, broken glass etc.

hi, i use the shwalbe durano for commuting and i did a couple of time trials and a tri on them too, work very well for me, although i have never tried anything else as they came standard on my caad9.

puncture wise i have had a couple when it has rained but i dont blame the tyres.

plus they are only a tenner each which i think is a bargain!

A second shout out for Spesh Armadillo. I use Conti Gatorskins for years as they worked well as a commuter and training tyre and got 1000's miles of abuse on Londons finest and turbo sessions but they were crap in the wet........

Armadillos do all of the above and they grip well in all weathers................go buy.
