Newbie's brick sessions

Its getting to that time when the first 'A' race is fast approaching and the need for brick sessions has intensified. I'd like to pick your brains on how best to maximise the benefit of a brick session ... I've got an hour's session to divvy up as would be best for a bike/run brick. Is it best to have one long set (e.g. 40 mins bike and then a 20 minute run) or to have shorter sets which get repeated (e.g. 10 minutes on the bike followed by a 10 minute run x 3 sets).
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Don't know if you're a gym member but if so try the following on bike and treadmill...
based on comfortable run pace of 13km
5km bike at medium level-
1km run at 12kmph
5km bike medium level
1km run at 12.8kmph
repeat keeping bike constant and increasing run by 0.8 kmph each time-the fourth circuit will kill!
Probably committing heresy in use of gym equipment rather than great outdoors.
