Swim for Sean Doherty – because you can and he can’t
Sean’s story: Last year Sean (then 16) had a terrible mountain biking accident which has left him
paralysed from the chest down, with limited use of his arms. He spent 6 months in Stoke
Mandeville and is now home in Stroud. Friends of Sean was set up to help provide some of the
support and equipment needed for Sean to live a fully active life.

*Timed Ironman swim – Swim the Ironman distance in 2 laps of a marked
course – with full safety back up and support. Great to find out what it’s like and
challenge yourself. The maximum time for this swim is 2 hours 20. If you think you
are close to this time please ensure you are in the water by 1830. Swimmers will be
set off in small groups.
* Relay Team– (all swim together or separately)
* Set your own challenge – do as many laps as you would like, take as long
as you like, swim with friends.
* Try an open air swim – Ever wondered what it’s like to swim in the lake
versus swim in the pool? It’s the thing that frightens most people about triathlons.
Short course close to shore available or swim buoy to buoy with others. Come along
and have a go, experienced swimmers on hand to give advice. No wetsuit required.
* Sponsor forms available – www.friendsofsean.org.uk
* Can’t Swim, Won’t Swim? Run the lakes in a mini time trial -
Run at your 10k or 5k time – 1 or 2 laps of both lakes. Bring your 10k or 5k run time
and we will tell you the time you should take to do the distance.
First swim at 1800 ? Lake closes by 2100
