Ironman fitness tracker

HI,

Does anyone have experience with one of these? Mum is looking for something that will tell her how far she has walked (not too bothered about the other fancy graph stuff/HRM) and on a budget.

I'm guessing most of you guys will have all singing all dancing red ones!!!

    That looks expensive.

A good pedometer should do the trick.

It counts the number of steps. You can calibrate it to get distance. However, the number of steps is probably just as good a guide as the distance.

I have an Omron Walking Style II http://www.amazon.co.uk/Omron-Walking-Style-II-Pedometer/dp/B000RXWVVQ.

Cost me about £20. It is a very good one. Accurate, and easy to use. it just counts all day, then resets at midnight. So you don't have to worry about pressing buttons etc.

I just use it like an odometer on the car. Aiming for my 10,000 steps per day.

I have a very sedentary job - the harder I work, the less I move - so it is really useful to have an objective measure of what you have done - so that how much you eat can be factor in. If I work really hard, I feel like I deserve to eat.. but the reality is that I have just thought very hard.. which doesn't use that many calories.

I think she was worried about varying step size during training - really she wants to know how far she is walking during a training session

Doesn't have access to the internet while she is working.

She might just have to do a set route while she is away then she can use mapmyrun
