Change small chain wheel

okennyokenny Posts: 231
I have a std. 105 groupset on my bike with a 53/39 on the front.

I am doing IM Germany 70.3 in three weeks and I am a bit scared due to the insane bike course, 1500m climbing over 90km. At one stage the incline stays between 10% and 13% for several kilometres.....

How hard is it to change the small chain wheel on the front?

I have already put a 12-27 in the bick to replace my 12-25, but that doesn't make that much of a difference.

Not hard at all with the right tools.

Big ring off, inner ring off - you should get away with it without removing the crank.

Front mech will need adjusting though, and you need to check your front mech can handle whatever small ring you use - would suggest a 36 minimum.
