I dunno if anyone uses gumtree, but I have looked for a bike and other bits and bobs a few times and ended up contacting some suspicious sounding people. Ive heard of robberies and seen some very expensive kit with stock photos and blatantly a dodgy sale. But this is ridiculous. Broad daylight in a public place.

I've only ever bought one thing from gumtree and I was very suspicious because it seemed so anonymous BUT it turned out that I got what I wanted for a good price and I knew it was a geniune sale, the guy even had the original box and shipping notes with his name on.

For safety I did take a friend with me and had a couple of phone discussions before comitting to meet the guy but if you keep your wits about you there are some good legitimate deals to be had.

THat story is no less shocking though
