Turbo Trainers remote or no remote?

so whats the deal..?...remote required or not?...reading some of the blurb for my 1st trainer sounds like cycleops fluid 2 with progressive resistence seems a simplier option?....setup, pedal like mad...trainer sorts out the rest? (too easy?)

I have one for sale on ebay at the moment - A fluid 2 - I have never used one with a remote but can confirm that it works very well.... Why bother with having a remote when the technology is there not to have it - I can understand if you have the one where the triainer takes you on a stage of the tour, but for just hamering out the miles there is no need - in my opinion.

I also reackon you get less tire wear and noise as you are not fighting against a brake.
