Can you be flexible with timing of practice races?

Hi guys!

What a great forum this is! I'm new to the Ironman distance and hope you can help me with a question I have.

I'm also on the Ironfit training plan (by Don Fink) and my race is scheduled for 01.08.2010 in Germany.

According to the Ironfit schedule I should have my 1/2 Ironman in week 22 (06.06.2010). Now the Ironman UK 70.3 is in week 24 of my program (20.06.2010) and I would like to participate in that event.

My question is: what is your advice on moving the practice race around a little bit (e.g. from week 22-->week 24?)???

  • I'm in the same position, but I;ve got IMUK on 01st August, and have entered IMUK 70.3 as warm-up / practice, and also on the IronFit Intermediate program. I've slotted the race in where it appears on my schedule, and amended the week before and after to suit the taper / recovery periods. I just thought being a week or two out can't impact too much.
