Tri shoes or road shoes?

I do a lot of road biking and have started triathlons last year, I'm looking to buy a new pair of shoes and wondered if I would be better off going for a pair of tri shoes. Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Its not essential but good to have.

tri shoes come into their own when in T1/T2 - Some people can put the shoes while on the bike and tri shoes generally come with one or two straps plus a loop at the end in which you use elastic bands to tie the shoes to the frame.

However, most folks put their shoes on in T1 and run to the mount line while in their shoes.

Also tri shoes are heavily vented so when you have wet feet then they can dry quicker.
