Cyclists required for training project - West London

Dear Athletes,

We have been advertising for cyclists to take part in a cycling project to be run at Brunel University, Uxbridge. We still require 3 more people to get involved...

You would be required to visit the labs on five occasions for 1-2 hours (visits 1-3) and a half day (visits 4-5). The research project is investigating the effects of heat and dehydration on cycling performance and fatigue, with notable attention towards the responses of the brain under these conditions.

You will receive a VO2max/HR thresholds test, training experience in a hot environment, your individual sweat rate and additional financial compensation for your time.

Requirements include;
• Males
• Aged 18-35 years
• Good training history of cycling/triathlon
• Be available on one of the following dates; 13th, 14th, 25th, 26th, 28th of June (for visit 4)

Although these are lab based sessions, it is a good opportunity to get some free physiological data (VO2/HR, lactate, power outputs etc) and some decent training time in the heat.

If you are interested in taking part, please contact Steve at steven.trangmar@brunel.ac.uk

N.B. I appreciate that this is prime competition season and apologies for the requirements but we unfortunately have to be strict with our inclusion criteria. Sorry.

  • Dear all,

    After a successful first run of this project we are now advertising for more athletes to get involved.

    Once again, you will receive a free VO2max/HR thresholds test, training experience in a hot environment, your individual sweat rate and additional financial compensation for your time.

    Requirements include;
    • Males
    • Aged 18-35 years
    • Good training history of cycling/triathlon
    • Be available from the 3rd of September, with visit 4 occurring on one of the 25th, 26th, 27th or 28th of September.

    Although these are lab based sessions, it is a good opportunity to get some free physiological data (VO2/HR, lactate, power outputs etc) and some decent training time in the heat. This project is suited to those who competitive, fully committed and willing to push themselves.

    For general inquiries or if you are interested in taking part, please contact Steve on the above email address.

    N.B. Apologies for the requirements but we unfortunately have to be strict with our inclusion criteria. Sorry.

    Can you justify your agist and sexist selection criteria on scientific grounds? If so lets have the evidence.

    This is a sport open to all. Respect it.

    What does your evidence show so far? If you want to use this forum give something back!
