New Running Event - The Wirksworth Wiggle

Hi,

I'm a fire fighter at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue service and have recently set up a Running and Multisports club for staff members in the service (DFRS RAMS). As part of this I've decided to set up a couple of local 10K runs to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity and DFRS RAMS and to also have an input into the local running scene. We'd like to become a part of, encourage and support running in our local area.

So....

the first event is 'The Wirksworth Wiggle', a 10K mixed terrain run starting and finishing at Wirksworth Fire station, Derbyshire. It basically heads from Wirksworth, up onto the high peak trail before looping around and heading down 'the incline' of Wirksworth Running clubs race fame (http://www.wirksworthrunningclub.co.uk/?cat=4) and then back into the station. As it's the first time we've put a race on it'll be fairly low key but we've managed to organise signage for the route, drink station and marshals for the road crossing as well as sorting prizes for the top 3 make and top 3 female. Oh and most importantly free tea and cake for all runners once they've finished I don't think that's too bad for £6 entry (£7 online due to £1 charge for the online facility)

Details can be found here (including route map)

So if your local (even if your not!) and would like to try out a new event whilst supporting a great cause and all for only £6 then we would really appreciate your help in making this event a success.

I would like to point out that this event is NOT a commercial venture, all money given will be used to run the event, donate to the Fire Fighters Charity and to eventually create a series of events in the local area by re-investing into them! (current idea is another 10K in June around Hathersage and a 140 mile bike sportive in Aug)

I look forward to seeing you at the event.

Thanks

Mick
