Wanted - Advice & a set of wheels for my Giant Defy 3

I'm looking for a decent set of rims for my Giant Defy 3 for road & race use.
Have been through the factory set & another after market set which weren't much cop so am considering something like a set of decent of Kinetic K1's or similar that are stronger, will last & not go out of true when I go over a fag butt in the road!!
If anyone has any recommendations as to a decent replacement set that won't break the bank I'd really appreciate hearing from you & your thoughts.
