Racing in the Afternoon

Just got the start details off the web for London to find that the 40+ Olympic kicks off at 13:10 for me.

Will make a change from all of the early morning starts [:D]

Normally I struggle to stomach anything solid on race day & go for liquid (High 5) instead but this doesn't seem right for a pm start. Anbody got any tips on nutritional strategies for racing in the afternoon?

Yeah, me too. Wow, I've never had such a late start. It will either be a really nice change and I'll be really well rested or I will drive evryone in the house crazy all morning, get up really early anyway and not be able to sit still.

Tough one. I'd be inclined to go for a light breakfast at whatever your normal time is, followed by a bowl of porridge with some honey in it mid to late morning. The GI of the porridge & honey combines to give you a good solid slow burn fuel that you can get down your gullet a good couple of hours before your start, and still get the benefit during the race.

    That's what I'd do anyway!

    Good luck.

    Karl.
