Wetsuit or not to Wetsuit....

Hi all have just entered south coast sprint tri for my first race in august.

It says on the info that a wetsuit is not compulsary for the shorter 750m Sea swim so ..

Wetsuit or not to wetsuit that is the question?????

Being a newbie i would welcome the extra buoyancy of a suit but not having one is one less thing to worry about any and all suggestions welcomed

cheers in advance all......[:D]

  • If the word 'sea' is in there somewhere, then it's a wetsuit for me everytime ... but then again I also like to wear a wetsuit in outdoor pools :)

With a wetsuit in the sea you're going to be warmer, safer and faster ... this should easily offset any time lost in transition getting it off :)

If it was me I would wear a wetsuit but I am a wimp.

As mikescottt said the wetsuit will also make you faster, for me the difference is significant. If you are a better swimmer than me you may not get as much benefit, it may be worth trying a few sessions with/without the wetsuit to see the difference it makes for you.

  • These are my results of 'experiments' done with wetsuit and non-wetsuit. Not scientific by any means but interesting for me :)
