Training with an Injury

Morning all,
I need some advice. I ran the Rotterdam Marathon last week and have picked up an injury in my right knee. I think I might have retorn my Medial Meniscus. I had a minor tear a couple of years ago and finally last year got it operated on with keyhole surgery and it felt fine.
I am currently living abroad though where my private medical care is much harder to get use of. So I am going to wait til I get back to the UK (about 3 weeks) before I get an MRI scan to double check. At the moment I am just doing the usual ice/rest.
What I want to know is what I can do to keep fit in the mean time. The last couple of nights I have just gone to the gym and done upper body weights, however with one session doing chest/shoulders/core and another doing arms/back/core I am kind of stuck today with what I can do as i'm pretty sure I should give it at least one day off before I start doing weights again!
I am thinking swimming, but trying to avoid any heavy pushing off the walls. Maybe cycling in a light gear as well?
Again, I know I need to see a specialist to get it diagnosed properly and I know complete rest is probably best. However being a Tri/Exercise junkie I don't think complete rest would ever happen - so just wondering on what anyones take on the safest forms of exercise would be....

I had a meniscal tear at the end of august last year. it was a posterior tear of the medial meniscus, therefore I only really had pain on full knee flexion, but it wasnt getting any better so I had an arthroscopy done in january, and the tear fixed with a few staples. After a month or so rest I got back into normal training.
At the moment you should not be running, at all. Swimming should be ok, as it shouldnt involve much knee flexion and shouldnt put too much stress on the joint.
