I am carrying out some research for my MSc Dissertation, looking at consumer attitudes towards running trainer brands.     Matt - would love to hear some stats.... how many people from this forum will be buying trainers for fashion... hummmm may have skewed your results based on the type of people you've asked.....??!!

    Hi Gallantry!



    I am primarily looking at the correlation between peoples implicit and explicit attitudes towards 2 running trainer brands. I plan to add another dimention to my study and see if there is a difference between implicit and explicit attitudes between groups (these groups may be those who buy running trainers from a fashion point of view ie people from the gym compared to those who buy purly for comfort and fit). I plan on emailing everyone who takes part a copy of the results and a link to the final published article. and Hope this helps.

    Matt, I think you're asking in the wrong place if you want information about brand loyalty. I can't think of anyone I know in triathlon who gives a **** about what brand name is on the shoes or about fashion when it comes to sports gear, all they are interested in is whether the shoes fit and how well they perform. I happen to fit Nike's last so I have mostly used their shoes but if eg Asics came up with a shoe that fitted better and gave me a more efficient run style then I would change without hesitation and with absolutely no concern over colour or design. My running shop has a full gait analysis video rig set up and it is surprising how much difference a different pair of shoes makes even if they both feel comfortable.
