Bike advice please!

Looking at buying a decent bike for the 3 sprints and 1 Oli that I've signed up for this year... Don't really know too much about bike set ups, and am not sure whether I need a 'compact' or a 'race'.



Whats the difference? Any advice much appreciated! Incidentally I'm looking at the Kiron Scandium.

    There are loads of what bike type threads on the forum - the most recet being the scott burrows showArrow("1/9/2009 9:21:29 AM",24706,3,false) How much faster will a £1000 bike be than a £300 bike?? Is it worth it. We've all thrown in our 2 cents worth there

    Fair point treefrog and yes I have read many a post on the subject of cost versus speed. However, I've got a grand earmarked for a bike and I want to get a good one. Preferably red 'cos apparently they're faster.



    I'm planning on saving money elsewhere by selotaping bin bags all over me for the swim and I'll be running in a pair of my old slippers.

    By compact/race are you refering to frame shape or gears?
