Half Ironman Times

Hi, just wondered what time i should be aiming for, for the New Forest Middle Distance Tri in Sept?

Only ever done one tri - London Olympic last yr - and managed 2hrs 29mins (32min swim, 1hr 6min cycle, 45min run) which was quicker than expected.

  • I did it last year in 6hr 22 min. 40 min swim 3.40 bike 2.22 run it was harsh to say the least, unless you are a sport billy don't go for a world record just aim to enjoy it, it's a great day out.
  • edit... 3.20 bike can't count!

I'm doing my first half in august.

    Best oly distance time= 2 hours 23minutes.

Aiming to get 5.10 on the half, have no idea what it will be though [image]http://forum.220magazine.com/micons/m5.gif[/image]

One thing is sure: going to try and enjoy it [image]http://forum.220magazine.com/micons/m6.gif[/image]

I find the best way to predict / set a target for half IM is to run a few 20kM's, take an average and then add 30 seconds per kM to this time. Then add this figure to your honest cycle and swim predictions. Its' a bit crude but it generally is not too far out. However it does not take into account mistakes due to a poor nutrition plan!
