Quick tie laces!

Locklaces are brilliant, they save you a ton of time in transition and are actually much more comfortable than normal laces, because they give you a bit more flex in the shoe, highly recommend them

Is the brand, pretty much any running/triathlon shop will have them

They cost practicly nothing, I too have them in all my running shoes. Saves time

in transition and every time you run.

They're unreplacable when you do T2-training, bricks or Bike-Run-B-R-B-R-.... training!!!
  • I didnt get on with them as they gave me dead painful feet.....maybe the shoes. Put normal laces in and i'm fine again. Got a duathlon soon so will need to practice "panic tying"

Maybe you should try again. They shouldn't be too tight.

They actually should fit better than normal laces, since the elasticity divides everything better.

    Does this make sense??

My guess is the laces were pulled tight to try to get the feel of 'normal' laces & then they dig in & cut off blood! I always tied real laces tight & had to get used to a looser feel & actually a more relaxed foot, more feel for the road etc, persevere.

Also there are different lacing pattern that you can use depending on foot dimensions, or support needed. Probably worth a google.

Lock laces for me too.......I'm sure you will very quickly become accustomed to how tight (or not) you need them. Really quick to adjust as well if you do find that they're not quite as you'd like once you're out on a run.
  • I tried all tensions. No matter how i had them my foot would sit in the wrong part of the shoe so my arches would bruise. Possibly just the shoes arent really the right type for my feet.
  • For the fashion conscious, if you buy from Lock Laces direct you can get additional and fluorescent colours!

    It all helps in transition![:D]

I learnt very early to use the elastic laces and they a re great - save loads of time!!

i think they just feel nicer, i feel my feet can move more. It feels a bit disconcerting at 1st, as if you feel like your laces are undone but they are great.

I think this is shown by the fact that I wear lock laces in the shoes which I only use in running races!

All my running shoes have locklaces.

    If only they were red![&o]

I use elastic laces in my racing trainers, but not in my ordinary gym ones.

A couple of posters have written that they feel their feet are moving around when they use elastic laces - perhaps this is an indication that your trainers are too wide?

I was told at the specialist gait lab i went to NOT to use elastic laces for general training as they don't give enough support, but they are great for race day.

I get Triathlete from Borders..just gone up to £4.95! Ho hum...however altho' it is mostly aimed & about ironmanm some of the science stuff is really good & requires a good bit of concentration to read & understand. This months lactate article is excellent, it must be the 4 or 5th such article I have read on this , but still shed some new light (to me) on this subject.

Oh bum..posted on wrong thread...sorry. Will pink laces go a little slower than red?

    You mean like this?

    [image]http://www.locklaces.com/images/2008red1_small.jpg[/image]

  • I can recommend the pinks ones...

    They compliment my attire nicely...

    Faster?
  • I would have to say yes...

Although my logic maybe somewhat flawed:-

    1. I’ve got a PB wearing them (although I’ve only done 1 Tri, a Sprint)

    2. The next time I wear them I’ll get a new PB (tells you how bad the sprint time was!)

    3. People normally see pink and run a mile.. clearing the way for me...

@gunforhire : look at those red locking beauties. You can feeel the extra speed.

I can recommend the pinks ones...

Pink is like red for beginners. Too much red in your first season will cause in injury. And don't even think about shaving your legs (just to bring back an older theme [:D])

Liking your thinking Bop...pink an intermedaite red...yes.

I used lock laces all last year and they were great.

However i've heard a lot about how good xtenex laces are and have got those to try.

Used by Frodeno when he took Gold.

  • Elastic/lock or even the ones with the knots in are great for your racing shoes… but don’t overuse them, in other words I would not use them in your training shoes, I have had problems with my ankles and the physio puts part of it down to the laces as they let the upper part of the shoe flex so much, its like cutting the roof of your car, makes the frame to flexi.

    Great for racing though.

  • I have Xtenex laces too! And I must say they rule. The bonus being that they are easily adjustable if you get them wrong when you first set them-up, unlike locklaces if you cut them too short the first time you use them!!!
