what made you faster

Been thinking bout this since the 'how many miles thread' is it the many many miles that make you faster??

Or are there any wise words anyone has that you found made you faster and was there alot of miles involved?

just thought i'd change this to a poll

quality trumps quantity any day of the week.

Working interval sessions into training has made me faster.

I could swim 3km comfortably but limited to about 30s per length, I was just going to the pool 5 times a week and doing 120 lengths with no further resulst. After joining a tri club and doing some shorter, interval based swims e.g. 5x100m on 2:00 mins, I'm now swimming about 25s per length. Similar results with my running.

Quantity out of season for base fitness, with core strength exercises, plyometrics, etc. and change the balance in favour of shorter technique and speed sessions as you move into the competition season, I would say.

I'd say multiple answer fit here.

In the begining it was just training, doing the miles that mademe faster, probably like most of us.

After that, intervals did it for bike and run.

Professional help does it for the swim, due to the higher technique aspect.

And amongst all that, I believe consistancy makes you faster (I.E. not getting injured), enough rest and decent nutrition.

My opinion is that one answer alone is not enough!

    cheers,
