    Hello,

I've scanned through the latest posts and can't see any that are similar to my ask: I'm after a new road bike after having had enough of my Giant OCR entry-level bike! It is the wrong frame size for me and my upper shoulders/neck always cramp up when I cycle over 80km. ... Need a new bike fitted to me and I have about £900 to spend.

What was the best bike around this price in 2008? I'm thinking of buying last year's model to save some cash so perhaps can look at some on sale which were originally priced over the £1000 mark.... I'd really appreciate some advice from the experts though.

I need something which will be great to ride for long 100km+ training rides and that will perform well in sprint and Olympic distance triathlons. My big goal is a Half-Ironman at the end of the year.

    ......what to buy?

    Cheers! AB

Try a 2009 Boardman Team Carbon £999 ask nicely and you'll get at least a 10% discount - awsome bike like s~~t of a stick and puches above its weight.

Many reviews available online a recommends on this forum and others.

    Hi AB,

Can you let me know how your research goes?-your requirement seem very similar to mine and I'm going to be going through the same process starting May/June. Would be interesting to hear what you think of bikes in this price bracket (reading reviews the Boardman Carbon at £999 is the winner, but reviews aren't always the most accurate).

No probs, han382! I am hoping to be jammy and get the bike Tax-free as I live out in Germany. The Boardman does look great but apparently it is a v low ride position. The Quintana Roo might be more up my street but I'll wait and see. I am probably going to venture across the border into Holland to see what they've got as they know a thing or two about bikes!

    Stay on this thread!

My Dolan Mythos hit my £1k budget nicely. Might be worth a look. Ultegra everything and a carbon frame which appears to be stiffer than a corpse after a Viagra overdose.

Their web-site is pretty appalling, though, and only provides an old link to an article which refers to an out-of-date spec. I can forward a spec sheet if required.

I noticed that. It doesn't exactly invite you to buy anything!
