What do you call your bike?? Does she have a name? I thought I was the only twonk who names her bike (Gilly the Giant and new baby Teresa the trek tri bike) but have since spoken to some very butch blokey cyclists who also name their bikes - Delilah, Suzanne... I know Conehead has the Blade...
So come on, fess up!

I found myself calling my bike "ninja"... so much that last sunday whilst racing I was muttering come on ninja come on......
Does this go towards obessive with triathlon????
she's called red sonia.........
my mountain bike (the one i'm using for liverpool tri) is called purple Hal.....cause it's purple and i got it from halfrauds...erm...halfords
as in "I'm off out on Le Rou - see ya later"
I never talk to it face to face, we don't have that kind of relationship, and I only refer to it as Le Rou to third parties. We have a love/hate affair going on, we battle against each other trying to finish the other one off.
If I get back from a ride knackered but feeling good then I feel I've got one over on Le Rou, if I get back completely spent and crying for mercy then it's one up to Le Rou.
He had the beating of me earlier in the year but I'm pulling it back fast - now when I go to the garage I can see Le Rou trembling in anticipation of the battle to come.
Strange - I don't have this kind of relationship with my runners, speedos or wetsuit!
My race bike is called Gladys, as she's is a Viner Gladius, not too glamouros a name, but she's a right goer...made this should be in the bike porn thread?????
I've just this second realised... He's a boy bike! All this time I've been calling him a girls name. So... a new name must found and I can't think of anything better than Dave.
He is definitely a Dave. Phew! First race in 3 weeks, imagine the embaressment turning up on a bike with gender issues!
Let us help you find a name for the trusty steed! It could be like one of those name teddy bear stalls you get ay local fete.
I will think up some good ones for you if you dont mind! What sort of bike do you have and what colour?
Blinkybaz... My bike is a red Kiron Scandium (which is why I used to call him Karen). All so confusing this naming business.
How about Kevin?
And when I am in a particular good mood on a particular fast section I will shout 'Warp factor 5 - Engage!'. [image]http://forum.220magazine.com/micons/m9.gif[/image]
When she mis behaves though she is called..... sorry I can't bring myself to say , I'm ashamed - I will say though that she has spent some time at the naughty door and the naughty step. She is a stubborn little thing and won't ever appoligise. She sulks but I am yet to see her cry.
She always faces the wall and to be honest doesn't look that upset by me telling her off. She remains poker faced all the time.
The strange thing is that when she is happy and dancing she looks no diferent but I can feel her come alive. She does love the attention of a good beauty session though. She is partial to a wipe down and a re lube ( may I mention Fenwicks lube - seems to make her all giggly and naughty).
She is part of the family and she even has a place at the dinner table. She lives in my en suite bathroom - the misses still doesn't understand though. I don't think there is jealousy issues but tensions can run high. I need to share the love about and I try my best to afford my affection to each of my ladies but I am still learning.
xx
Just "the old girl" is the old MTB.
Always girl's names.
P.S. Don't tell any one I told you, it's too embarrassing.
I am playing with Red KEV!
Roger Red Hat or just roger!
Blood machine (which is a bite 1970's horror esq)
Maybe just RED as in the character from Shawshank fil with morgan freeman!! I think this is the best.
That's a full and productive day you've had then! Should we cross paths at an event, I will gladly introduce you to Red Kev and I will buy you a drink of your choice.
Here's to Red Kev!
i am in the pub tonight so I will raise a glass to Red Kev!!! Thats will be like wetting his head!
Never thought about naming other bikes until now, so.....
The Bianchi im going to call Pam, as my mates surname is Pambianchi (he's italian as well and he loves the fact that I ride an Italian bike).
The Giant im going to call Andre as in Andre the Giant.
Think I'll call the GT MTB Sloth, as it spends all its time chained up in the garage.
There it goes Dave Quimm, Pam and Andre and Sloth.
K.I.T.T. is programmed to coach me round the bike course and offer me advice too, like when i'm approaching a climb, he will suggest TURBO BOOST, and possibly even more helpful is when i'm in the run he talks to me (though my watch obviously), and keeps me up to speed on my position and current pace.
