Question on Tri Bike setup

sfullersfuller Posts: 628
I have just got a tri bike (Trek Equinox 7) and they are briliant on the flats and moderate uphills but I find you do really need to stay seated on all hills as the front becomes very wobbly if you, like me, have a tendancy to 'pull' yourself up a hill on the handlebars.

I have seen plenty of photos of other people standing up on their tri bikes so its probably just me.....

it angers the gods of triathlon and they smite you with slow transitions and bad swims......

ahhh..... that explains a lot about my performance........

I dont have the cash right now but am looking to purchase a Tri geometry specific bike for the bigger events I have planned for 2010 and 2011. As the events I intend to enter and going to be very hilly should I get a Tri bike and put drops on it? What is it like climbing on the Tri horn style bars?

I love the flats and being on my tri bars pushing it but can't see how climbing will be on the tri horns.....

how do people feel about putting drops on a Tri-specific bike?

Any insight and opinions on anything related to this is appreciated

    Thanks

So Cone, how do you find climbing on the Black bomber?

As I intend to do Monaco next year and Nice IM 2011..... this is my concern.
