1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run is Standard distance or also known as Olympic distance.
750m swim, 20km bike 5km run is sprint
400m swim, 20km bike, 5km run is supersprint.
And then there's a whole host of other random distances in between.
far be it for me to disagree with the GREAT conehead [:D] (and I do mean that!) but I would say that distances DOWN to olympic are pretty standard, but stuff below that is open somewhat to interpretation.
I'd certainly go with 750/20/5 being a sprint... but there are LOADS of tris that describe a 400/20/5 (typically a pool swim) as a sprint... as well as a few (cue conceptsport :-) that
run sprints of around 400/32/8 ... which aren't far short of an Oly.
Its pretty much what's in a name.
I'll go now before I get abducted to conehead's secret island hideaway for "education" ;-)
