Some pretty gruesome photos out there! Hope yours isn't so bad. I've not trained for a few weeks now - also had to cancel races. Still waiting for a decent diagnosis on my knee injury (a ligament strain I suspect).

    Get well soon!

never heard of it! but like you and jack have knackered my knee, though isnt ligament as specialist did all the tests an no pain!

maybe we should start a group - injured triathletes - those who can still swim with their arms can join!

Cellulitis is a skin infection that travels through the 3 layers of the skin.

The condition varies in severity but at it's worst can render a patient immobile and unable to weight bear.

Generally it presents as swelling and reddening to the affected limb, pain on palpation and movement and pain ++.

The treatment does vary according to cellular damage but is usually antibiotics and rest.

I must add that broken skin is a bad sign and needs careful wound management.

Good luck - rest and keep hydrated.

oh and if the reddening moves up into your mid femur region - get to your Gp's fast - cellulitus loves attacking your manhood and can cause a few serious issues.

I'm talking within 24 hours or so not minutes.

    Hi Jack

All races have been cancelled until further notice(still got poision in the knee)

I have had cartilige and ligament damage 23 years ago and with the right physio there are no re-occuring problems. Hope it is some simple and you get back training soon.

    Get well !

    Hi Gingetri

You do not want it it is poision in the soft tissue and it spread from the ankle to the groin and i am not allowed to do any form of sport for the next three months providing it clears up. A group sounds good but if we all have knackered knees we can only swim and i am not allowed to do that either.

    Get well soon!

    Hi Willieverfinish

The skin started to split so it is a llllllllong course of antibiotics and rest for the forseeable future, so all events for this year have been cancelled. Have a great season.

    Hi Willieverfinish

Yes i know i was taken into hospital as the poision spread from the knee to the ankle to just below the groin. Lots of antibiotics and IV drips. Thanks for the info.

prospero, you have my sympathy! Heard back about my knee today too though, ligaments, cartilage and joints all loooking good, so time for physio and see if they can tell me why it hurts - nowhere near on the scale of yours though!
