number belt, helmet (you won't race without it), cycling shoes (if you use them), i carry spare tube, repair kit, minipump. goggles, noseclip (if you use them), tri-shorts+tri-top or tri-suit.

there must be tons of other things as well, do you have a lot of gear or is this going to be one enormous wiggle order? [:)]

Drinks, energy gels, towel, waterproof suncream, recovery drink, race pack if you've been sent it pre-race, antichaffing/lubricant, box for transition

Have a look at this, http://triathlon.racechecklist.com/ it covers most things
  • Got my first OD and Official Tri (last time i was chaperoned by some company people) coming up in about 2 months.

What essentials should be brought on race day?

(that is aside from my bike and my wetsuit, and trainers![:)])

  • do you need some sort of racebelt thingy?

I got to order some stuff...tri suit should be interesting...

You don't need a racebelt, but it's a damn sight easier. If you do, pin your numbers to it, do the cip up and hang it over your helmet. Then all you have to do is step into it, they are leastic so stretch. Don't leave it undone and try do do it up in transtion, and fumbling with the buckle will cost you valuable seconds.

Other option is to pin numbers to your trisuit (assuming thats what you're using), or to a shirt that you then put on in T1.

Tricuit and racebelt are the way to go.

    Don't forget a roll of ass-wipe.

Banana & milkshake for recovery afters.

Deffo go for the elastic number belt - I was told "this will be the cheapest thing you ever buy in triathlon" by my local tri shop... how right they were [:D]
