    You claiming on their insurance?

To be fair to the guy, he did stop but weirdly I forgot to get his details. Luckily I was mostly ok, but claimed for the bike on the house insurance. They paid out in Halfords vouchers but thankfully the LBS accepted them [:)]

How did you managed to claim on house insurance?

cause you can insure cylces away from home. I used to work for Royal Sun Alliance when I was in my uni days.

Quite easy done, most insurers offer this cover. You normally have to specifiy the bike if its over a certain value say £1500

That's the one - my house insurance covers bikes away from home for theft and accidental damage but only up to 400 by default. I've got my other bikes as named items which costs a bit extra

Hate that... why don't drivers realize that cars are heavy and slow at lower speeds? Basic physics.

Ive just been looking at the link about cycling safety from this months 220 mag. Interesting stuff, although quite vague. http://www.ctc.org.uk/resources/Campaigns/CTC_Safety_in_Numbers.pdf

Interesting stuff but pity there isnt more in depth stuff on London. If there was, Im sure Putney would be a nasty blackspot. Even central london isnt as bad as Putney. The home of idiotic pedestrians and drivers with no spatial awareness.

This site is pretty interesting too.. "a map showing Department for Transport data of all the road accidents in 2007 involving cyclists where injuries were reported to the police"

Thats interesting, hardly any accidents reported in richmond park, which ties in with higher cyclist numbers and drivers hopefully more aware of us.

Aslo so true what people say about traffic calming areas, which just makes it more dangerous for cyclists. In my experience, drivers dont slow down, just zigzag a lot faster.
