Human Injury Porn!

As the season is well underway, the time feels right to introduce this subject of exercised induced injury. What is your most awesome injury porn sustained during training/competing?

I'll kick it off with my sons maye Ben, who incurred this little lot after coming off his bike in a tri oop north last week........

Ouch, that looks like it was a tough spill.

Hope you're still alright for racing in Exmoor this weekend as well! Best luck healing, fingers crossed.

Agent_ti - I am going to go out on a limb here and say that hurt a bit! It must be sore just to move around.

I did see a ZipVit water bootle there from the £4.99 p and p free box did I not!

Ha just noticed the prime position for the bottle, maybe I should write to them and ask...

But yes, was rather painful! A good 20m of sliding down the road, my kit was in tatters. Has taken about 10 days for the skin to grow back on my arm and hip

Here's a different kind of injury - My Knee as it was back in April. Still relevant as I am off to see the surgeon about it in about an hour.

Jack, that looks like a before and after shot of 'Knee Slimmer of the Year'!

Hope all goes well with the surgeon.

It was to show the large chunk taken out of the base of his thumb, which was the worst injury but doesn't really look that bad in the photo. He still got on and finished.

It was the Cheshire tri if anyone else was there?

Agent_ti, those injuries look mighty impressive too but then I guess at nearly 50mph they would!

Lovely knees Jack, hope they get sorted soon!

Danny, no worries it was a friend that copped it not me

Is this not a bit like a school boy pissing contest

In the old days!!! we just discussed triathlon stuff and avoided comedien threads and look at my bruise thread.

I know a cyclist who is now wheelchair bound from a fall, should I get her to send a photo in?

  • nicknofingernicknofinger Posts: 284
Ok this was not triathlon related, but I thought it would fit in.

Yes did it when I was 19, don't wear rings it's bad for you fingers.

    I'm intrigued could you elaborate?

My brother lost all but his thumb and index finger after he shoved them into a gas heater when he was 5, what a dipstick.
  • nicknofingernicknofinger Posts: 284
It's not nice so sorry about this, I climbed over a gate (nothing dodgy) and a big gate at that. The ring got caught on the top and de-gloved it leaving just the bone. Not my best day, but at least I'm still here and it makes my boy laugh when I put it up my nose.

..and thats why I never got married.
  • Jack HughesJack Hughes Posts: 1,262
The wedding ring is the only adornment I have. I take it off before sporting activities (if I remember) - mainly because it gets in the way of rackets/weights/rowing/handlebards etc - causes callouses/hard skin. Don't like getting wet with it on either.

Other than that I am glad to wear it!

I've agreed that when I get married I'll have a new bike not a ring.

Thank god not all of us have lost our sense of humour Treefrog. It has clearly escaped your notice that this is aimed lightheartedly at those who have NOT been seriously injured.

I'm sorry if the thread title lured you in to thinking it was something else. Personally, when I see a thread title of something that doesn't interest me or something I don't agree with I just don't read it

I sat next to ur son in front of th finish line waiting for the final results, amazing that he actually finished
  • Cheryl6162Cheryl6162 Posts: 356
Apana, yeah I think they make 'em of tough stuff down here, although triathletes have to be half machine to do what we do, through the pain and torment just to grab a few extra seconds!

He's actually my sons mate but I've known him since he was a toddler and he's coming on holiday with us to Turkey in a couple of weeks. Hope the scabs have gone by then or I'm not going in the sea with him!
