Ok so I think I need to conceed defeat in the pursuit of a TT bike. I don't think I'm ready yet to purchase a TT bike. After a bit of research on the various threads I'm thinking that I sell my current heavy road bike and buy a new really decent/good road bike.
Trouble is there is so much to chose from that I just don't know. The WAT officer has relented and is allowing me up to £1000 to spend, but I reckon I could push that a little further.
I've got a decent set of Zipp carbon tri bars currently so I think I would use these on the new bike. The only other extras I've put on it are Look Keo pedals, shimano tiagra wheels and a carbon seat post. Don't think any of these would be transferable so I could sell these with the bike or seperately to raise additional funds.
What sort of road bike would other recommend? I had a look on Bridgetown Cycle, jeeezz their cycles are expensive. I would like to go down and see the shop, maybe a possibility?
In general terms, what sort of impact is more expensive, better quality bike going to make?
Thanks

Tip when buying from Wiggle if you buy £50 worth of stuff first, e.g pedals, shoes etc. you become a Gold member and 5% off so basically you get your £50 back if you then spend a grand on a bike.
And this - which Bopomofo will enthuse about

Can you buy under a cycle to work scheme?
Cycle to work is not an option, I basically get an allowance for my car and get paid for my mileage, so if I used the cycle to work scheme I would lose a fortune each month.
I would love to know what Bopo says about that bike..... its really tempting me, big time. What sort of frame would I need as I'm 6ft 3"?

Came in at just under a grand. PM me if you want to know the gory details spec-wise.
I'm an essential car user for the council and get paid mileage. However, I'm entitled to the Cycle to Work Scheme like everybody else and don't have to cycle every journey (or any journey!) to qualify. It's worth looking at the t&cs.
