Was watching the Triathlon on TV this am, and noticed that the bike boys and girls dont use TT bikes. Is there a reason, are they not allowed because they can draft? No doubt most of those machines are carbon with superlight wheels etc and of course the are very good cyclists.

It's all about responding to attacks, quick changes of pace.
Compare a race stage with a TT stage on the tour-de-france (starts next week!), same principle.
They are good cyclists but put them in an age group event that they are not allowed to draft then their times are not that much better than the quicker guys at our level.... the difference comes with the swim (17/18 mins for 1500m) and the run (29-32 mins for 10k) which most 'normal' people cant compete with.
They get the option to not wear wetsuits at a lower temperature than us age groupers too.
so they do wear wetsuits sometimes....
