I don't really go for this US style 'if the going gets tough etc' Being in the Public Sector our management have latched onto that sort of b######s in a big way, however there are a few sayings that I like:

A mistake is evidence that someone has actually tried to do something

It seemed like a good idea at the time

Before you insult someone walk a mile in their shoes, that way you will be a mile away and they won't have any shoes to chase after you

Egotism -- usually just a case of mistaken nonentity. Barbara Stanwyck

OK this I suppose is inspirational

I did start to write something silly in here, but something that has stuck with me since my younger days were my Mother's last words. She was a bit of an overachiever, and had crammed a lot of wonderful things into her life, and, on getting the grim news from the tearful Doc, said, rather sadly, "Oh. But there was so much more that I wanted to do". She went into unconsciousness soon after, and never came out of it - so it was certainly her last coherent words. I'm conscious that I not far off the age that she was when she died, and it represents a kind of yardstick - and I'm trying pretty hard to make sure that I do get some good stuff in!

  • I think the guys got the philosophical side cover, so I am just coming in with quotes from my fave film 'Point Break', so true!

Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true.

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

    And perhaps for the forum:

'To err is human but to really foul things up requires a computer' Old Farmers Almanac 1978
