What's the point in tribars?

Whilst watching the Tour of Britain bike race the other day, I noticed that none of them had tribars on their bikes...So why to triathletes have tribars but 'pure' cyclists don't? What's the advantage of them?

  • Simply put - Aerodynamics..For most people tri biking is a time trial and any help that can be gained is used where is in road races tatics and drafting are all par for the course so the aero benifits of tribars are often lost...

Now that drafting is legal in Elite olympic distance triathlon some of the elite tri athletes have ditched tribars.
