Bike security and Insurance

Hi,
I pick up my new bike tomorrow and have some security and insurance issues?
I have a leisure policy with E&L and they seem to be a little sketchy on whether it would be covered if it was stolen from my lockable Thule OutRide 561 bike carrier, is anyone unfortunate enough to have had there bike stolen from the of these and if so did they pay out?
Also, there are various datatag system available can anyone recommend one, and do these scheme's work?
I will gladly take any other advice on keeping my secure.
